Apartment Guestbook

January 28, 2016

Alex approached us when our family was in an emergency and needed an immediate place to stay short-term in our neighbourhood. He was keen to make the process of moving in and staying there as stress-free as possible for us, which it certainly was. He was always immediately available with a smile on his face (even after locking myself out of the apartment twice within 24 hours!), and was flexible with the length of our stay, which was a month. The apartment is well-maintained and spacious, with everything we needed, especially considering we arrived with nothing. The beds and duvets were very warm and comfortable, the hot water steamy and plentiful, and the laundromat downstairs very convenient. Being local Beachers, we were happy that we could continue to live in our wonderful neighbourhood and have all of our favourite amenities nearby. We were very grateful to have the safety, security and comfort of the apartment to stay in while we dealt with all the other stressors in our lives, and that Alex came to our rescue.

My daughter and I had an amazing experience staying at Alex’s apartment. Alex made the move in unbelievably stress free. He made us feel as welcome as if we were moving in to his own home. Alex worked with us to accommodate our move in date and time. He was immediately available if we had any questions. Alex treated us warmly and took such care to make sure we were comfortable and happy.

The apartment is in a great location. The street car is at your door, and the shops and restaurants are amazing! So great to wake up and step outside your door for a Montreal style bagel and coffee. The lake is at your door and you get to know the people in the community. The apartment is beautiful and spacious. We arrived to find clean linens and cozy beds. Everything we needed was there. It is so handy to have the wash and fold laundry service right downstairs and the ladies are so friendly and helpful.

Although we eventually were able to move in our new house, we were sad to leave the apartment!

We stayed at Alex’s furnished apartment for nearly three months with our toddler son. It was exactly what we needed as we landed in Canada (we were looking for temporary furnished family accommodation while we began the process of settling permanently in Toronto and looking for a house to purchase). The apartment itself is stylish and plenty large enough to comfortably accommodate our family. It had everything we needed to settle straight into meal preparation, internet surfing and sleep. It was set in an ideal area – a block from the beach and within walking distance of amenities and transport links. In short, we loved our time in the apartment and are grateful to Alex for the opportunity to live there, and for his flexibility on our (nearly) three month stay. Highly recommended.

We heartily corroborate the accurate remarks on all points made by the previous reviewers. After a lengthy sabbatical/global walkabout, we needed a landing pad to re-enter the orbit of our working routines in Toronto. Unlike the posters of many ads, Alex responded immediately and within a day’s return we had a viewing of the apartment and happily moved in. The suite has everything you need, is very comfortable and full of character. It offers exceptionally good value, especially for this neighbourhood.

We’ve lived in various parts of Toronto for over twenty years, but never in The Beaches and immediately recognized this as the best in the city for atmosphere, amenities, community and overall sanity. The apartment is a few hundred meters away from the nicest stretch of Lake Ontario – the boardwalk here is highly addictive and leads to the best cycling and walking in the city at the Leslie Spit / Tommy Thomson Park. We ended up buying a condo a few doors down from the suite, having a fabulous test drive of the neighbourhood staying at the apartment. Alex was super flexible and understanding about the vagaries of our tenancy through the five month search process. He’s a genuinely affable and laid-back guy but also quickly and effectively on the ball if something needs attention.

Having rented hits and misses all over the world, we feel very lucky to have stayed here comfortably and conveniently during this transition period. We highly recommend the apartment to prospective renters.

Needing a sublet for a four month work stint in Toronto, I happily stumbled across this little gem.

Knowing nothing of Toronto, I was hesitant (and by hesitant I mean a complete stress-case) of renting an apartment online with only web pictures and Google Maps to get me by. Happily, my faith in humanity – and the Internet – was restored upon my arrival.

The apartment is exactly as portrayed. Well-maintained, it has all the charm a historic building should have with the modern facility of A/C (kind of a necessity for a summer in Toronto). I had everything I needed to be comfortable during my stay and the massive patio off the back was awesome… seriously AWESOME – my own private oasis.

The neighbourhood is phenomenal – I still maintain I picked the best area in all of Toronto to stay. A block from the beach, a plethora of restaurants, grocery stores and shops and bike / walking paths everywhere, it really has it all. The people in the area are pretty amazing too, most have an easiness about them. It is also a super pet-friendly area (I think everybody that lives there owns a dog 😉

Alex (the landlord) is the icing on the cake. In my years of renting I have never met such an accommodating, laid-back and genuinely nice landlord.

I highly recommend this place, whether you need short or long-term, I can’t fathom anyone being disappointed.

I stayed in this amazing place for two months and I don’t hesitate to recommend it. Highly!

The apartment is a lovely living space in a great Toronto neighbourhood. In addition, it has every feature useful to someone on a long trip or extended stay, making you feel at home and providing you with a quiet oasis (including super comfortable beds and cozy duvets and a secluded magical patio). It’s a winner.

The apartment is located a short drive to the downtown area and business centre (also public transit is around the corner) and all kind of amenities are a few steps away. Just to list a few – the lake, the beaches, boardwalk and bicycle paths – great coffee – organic groceries – health-food stores – movies at The Fox theatre – yoga (if that’s your thing there are two of the best yoga studios in T.O. (Bikram and Ashtanga) – a newly opened Pilates studio – martial arts – dance studios – library – bookstores – and all along Queen Street the friendliest shopkeepers.

Best kept secret? Alex, your host. Contact with him is always fast and uncomplicated. Alex goes above and beyond and is remarkable in his attention to all details that will make your short or long stay the most pleasant and worry-free.

Thank you, Alex, for a most wonderful time at The Beaches.
